Dr. Kashi’ Azad’s course in the fundamentals of Pahlavani has been a game changer for me. As a Martial Artist in both striking and grappling, I was intrigued to add a traditional and ancient form of martial training into my repertoire. Since following the course routinely in my training regime, I have noticed significant improvements in strength, conditioning, and mobility. Unlike some more modern training methods, Pahlavani targets muscle groups and rotational strength directly beneficial to martial arts training. For example, the rotation of the shoulders when throwing a punch. Often one’s punching power exceeds the strength of the shoulders to keep up with it and can lead to injury. The use of Persian Meels has my shoulders feeling stronger and activated, making the punches more fluid and powerful without shoulder injuries. That is one example but the whole practice is beneficial to the full body. I highly recommend it to other martial artists. More so even, the practice of Pahlavani is just enjoyable and beneficial for its own sake. I look forward to making more progress with my practice to heavier Meels and adding the Sang. Dr. Kashi’s instructions in the course are very clear and very concise with a helpful progression chart. 5/5, would do again.
